Planning for School Improvement

This School Strategic Plan was formulated on the basis of the outcomes arising from the detailed self-evaluation exercise undertaken by the Headteacher and the outcomes from the previous Ofsted inspection, together with other monitoring activities conducted by the Leadership Team. This has provided the key areas for improvement over four years.

Priorities for improvement:-

1) To raise standards and accelerate progress in mathematics.

2) To improve writing through assessment for learning.

3) To improve pupils' independence in learning.

Although each priority is important in its own right we have taken the opportunity to make meaningful connections between each plan. Developing assessment for learning techniques which can be applied for mathematics has helped pupils and teachers to identify the next steps in learning. Focusing on how to encourage and promote independent learning has drawn on self-evaluation techniques which are key to developing the skills on knowing how to learn. In this way not only will the School's Strategic Plan secure the improvement we desire but will enable our learners to become confident, autonomous and lifelong learners.
