Chris Connaughton – Beowulf (June 2023)
Our week got off to an exciting start with a visit from Actor and Playwright Chris Connaughton on Monday morning. He brought the ancient story of Beowulf to life in front the year 4 children and parents. There were both and gasps of fear and shrieks of laughter as he skilfully retold the myth about monsters and heroes to an entranced audience! Having studied the Beowulf story in recent weeks, the children were thrilled to hear Mr Connaughton's version and excited to hear the final part of the story, which they had not previously known. What a great way to start the week!
Chris Connaughton - Treasure Island
We had a visit from Chris Connaughton who is an author and storyteller. He performed and told us the story of Treasure Island by Robert Louis Stevenson, which we have just started learning about in English. We loved how he performed this story and how he played all the characters himself. It was sometimes funny, sometimes exciting and there were some scary moments too.
Chris also visited our classrooms whilst we were writing to help us generate ideas and exciting language to use in our writing. We wrote diary entries inspired by the apple barrel scene.
